The 16th Annual Food Festival of the Americas
Having the pleasure of serving my embassy, ii wanted to share the fun! The 16th Annual Food Festival of the Americas took place on the grounds of the Organization of American States (OAS). Event goers met on 17th Street and Constitution Avenue, N.W., on May 18th 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Food Festival was a fun filled, family event for those who wished to experience the culture and gastronomy of Latin America, the Caribbean and OAS Observer States. This event transported the public to a corner of each participating country through the tasting of typical meals and the display of crafts, music, dances and customs. Guests also had the chance to participate in the grand raffle held during the Festival, with an opportunity to win fabulous prizes such as airline tickets.
This event is made possible through the participation of many collaborators and sponsors, such as the Permanent and Observer Missions, the Organization of American States, many individuals and companies. ii invite you to learn more about the Organization of Woment of the Americas. Generosity of collaborators and volunteers contributing their time, creativity and monetary and other donations serves a great cause: strengthening the ties between member countries of the OAS. Over 120 volunteers from the diplomatic missions, schools, congregations and universities, have helped the Organization of Women of the Americas (OWA) stage a successful annual event.
Base on information from the OAS website, it is anticipated that the proceeds from the 2014 event will assist deserving institutions in Mexico, Paraguay, Panama, the Bahamas, Barbados and Washington D.C. This is a great cause to support.
